S'mores
Directions: There are many ways to cook this but basically you'll need two graham crackers, a large marshmallow and a piece of chocolate bar (like Hershey's or Jersey Milk... chocolate chips also work). You can either toast the marshmallow and then make the s'more sandwich or wrap it in foil and heat over the fire (only a short time though).
Easy S'mores
Thanks very much to Alain Roy, who sent me this great, easy version of S'mores - perfect for the little ones!
Ingredients: 2 digestive cookies with chocolate on one side, and marshmallows
Roast the marshmallows as usual. When they're ready, slip marshmallow off stick and in between two digestive cookies that have been turned chocolate side in. No fuss, no muss! Great for Sparks and younger!
Mini S'mores
Thanks very much to Donna Di Lello, who sent me this great idea!
This is a neat way to do s'mores when it's raining outside, or as an exercise to introduce your girls to 'outdoor' cooking.
Ingredients:
Girl Guide S'mores
Here's another version of this campfire classic, courtesy of Donna Di Lello.
Ingredients:
- marshmallows
- two mint Girl Guide cookies
Directions: Roast the marshmallow as usual, but use the minty Girl Guide cookies instead of graham crackers.
S'Moreos
This idea was sent to me by Nicole Bertram.
Instead of using graham crackers, break open an Oreo cookie and put the toasted marshmallow inside. Now there's a guaranteed sugar rush for you!
Toasted S'more Bars
From the Camp Woolsey Cookbook, 2011 ...for when the weather just will NOT cooperate.
Ingredients:
- 18 squares graham crackers, broken in half
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate ships
- 9 regular sized marshmallows, cut in half.
Directions: Place 18 half-cracker squares on bottom of metal baking pan. Top with marshmallow halves, cut sides up. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes until marshmallows are golden. Remove from pan and put the remainder of the graham crackers on top. Let stand 5 minutes and serve.
