Beef Stew

This recipe is from the Great Camp Woolsey Cookbook, courtesy of the Ottawa Area Girl Guides.

Dredge 5 lbs. of stewing beef in 1 cup of flour. Brown in a large pot. Cover tightly and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add potatoes, onions, carrots, etc. Continue to simmer for another 45 minutes. Mix 2 cups of flour with 3 cups of water to a smooth paste. Add to stew, stirring. Cook for an additional 15 minutes.

Optional: you can also add canned tomatoes, stew seasoning mix, or cream of mushroom soup.
