Buddy Burners and Tin Can Stoves

You can easily use a large coffee can or 2L apple-juice can as a stove! Cut out small holes in the top side of the cans to allow smoke to escape. Air holes or a little door should be cut in the bottom as well. Buddy burners will also be needed. To make them, coil corrugated cardboard tightly around a birthday candle, put the whole thing into an empty tuna can (can should be completely full of cardboard). Pour melted wax over the cardboard and let harden.

On a flat, non-flammable surface, set your buddy burner down and light it. Place the tin can stove over top. The top of the can will heat up and can be used to cook many things, including eggs, toad in the hole (egg in the middle of a piece of bread), french toast, grilled cheese, pancakes, etc. Note that for cooking pancakes and fried eggs it is very important that the stove be as level as possible!
