Pathfinder Bag Ceremony
Thanks very much to Wendy Baker, who created this ceremony and shared it with the Guiding Mailing List. She notes that she changes this ceremony a little bit every year, in order to ensure that every Pathfinder in her group has something to hand out to the advancing Guides.
Pathfinder (to advancing Guide): Halt, what do you want?
Guide: I want to become a Pathfinder.
Pathfinder 1 (gives Guide a bag): You will need this bag to carry your stuff.
Pathfinder 2 (gives girl a cup): You will need this because Pathfinders is thirsty work!
Pathfinder 3 (gives a coat hanger): You will need this to keep your uniform neat and tidy, so you don't have to throw your uniform on the floor with the rest of your clothes.
Pathfinder 4 (gives a bag of chips): You will need this for the munchies!
Pathfinder 5 (gives a bandana): This can keep your head covered if you lose your hat, and it comes with a list of 99 other uses!
Pathfinder 6 (gives a pen on a rope): Keep this handy because you have to keep your own notes in Pathfinders.
Pathfinder 7 (gives a flashlight): You will need this to find your way to the lats when we go to camp.
Pathfinder 8 (gives a program book): You are now prepared for Pathfinders.
Pathfinder Leader: Turn around and say good-bye to the Guides and welcome to the wonderful world of Pathfinders!
