Sparks or Brownie Enrolment

Thanks to Wendy Baker for posting this great ceremony to the Guide Mailing List!

Please Note: Wendy did not create this one... it was used once for a Brownie enrolment and came from a Guider from Quebec.

After girls finish their Brownie Ring and Sharing Circles, the girls who are going to be enrolled leave the room (with a leader or JL) and enter the Leprechaun and Angel and take their designated spots (they can have cards with their words) and the Circle Leader for their group takes her position on the other side of the circle. (You could have the Sparks Circle within the Brownie Circle or have them all joined together). I like to have the girls sit so the parents can see what is going on. So your room would be set up: Circle in the middle leaders at one side, parents at small tables all around Leprechaun, Angel and Sixer at equal distance apart so that the Sixer is close to the leaders).

The Girls who are to be enrolled come in one at a time and first go to the Leprechaun and say. "I want to be a Brownie. Are you a Brownie?" (or Spark).

Leprechaun says: "No, I'm a leprechaun! I bring good luck and wishes to people. Would you like to join me?

The Brownie says: "No I want to be a Brownie!"

The Brownie then goes to the Angel and says: "I want to be a Brownie, are you a Brownie?

The Angel says: "No, I'm a Christmas Angel. I bring peace and goodwill to men. Would you like to join me?.

The Brownie says: "No, I want to be a Brownie!"

The Brownie then moves on to the Circle Leader and says:

"I want to become a Brownie. Are you a Brownie?

And the Circle Leader replies: Yes. I am a Brownie. I make people happy and help them everyday. I'm a Circle Leader for the _________. Come with me and you can be a Brownie to.

(Sparks could be met with a second year Sparks we says: "Yes, I am Spark, we promise to share and be a friend. Come with me and you can be a Spark too.")

They are then lead to the Commissioner, who enrols the Brownies the usual manner. "Twist me and Turn me" and I would probably do same with the Sparks so they would not feel left out.
