Keep Dry
Materials:
- paper towel
- plastic cup
- deep bowl
Directions:
- 1) Crumple the paper towel. Stuff it into the bottom
of the cup.
- 2) Fill the bowl to nearly full. The water must be
deep enough that the glass can be completely submerged.
- 3) Turn the cup up-side down and shove it under
water, making sure not to tilt it so that air escapes.
- 4) Pull the cup out of the water and show the girls
that the paper towel is still dry.
Explanation: The air inside
the cup keeps the water from getting inside. When you place the glass under
water up-side down, the air has no chance to escape. Because the air takes up
all the space inside the cup, the water can not get inside the cup and wet the
paper towel.
