Heartwinds

Thanks to Megan Burns, who sent me this song.

Home we go back to the cities
Yet here we stay some part of us all
We’ve worked the Blue Trail, lit by dawn
Felt the days grow, with our songs

Seen Blue Heron rise from Home Lake
Watched her fly fresh as the wind
Mountain stands high, like clouds we’ve been
Touching her top to feel her heartwinds

They blow through the fir trees, scattering shadows
Caressing wild young pea plants, of Homestead and Meadow
The land on the Daisies Hill that I’ve climbed
Ripple the water as breezes pass Twin Lakes

I long to know when I’ll next return
To feel the sweat of my brow give to the earth
A cool wind blows through, stilling my heart
I love this land and the people who name her friend

Home we go back to the cities
Yet here we stay some part of us all
She’s called us her own, given us her home
And all we can give is love on a cold winter's wind
