Cut Capers (The Seven Capers)
(source: "Musical Fun With The Brownie Pack", Girl Guides Association, 1986; also in "Sing a Song and Dance With Me", Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council, 1983.)

Thanks to Frances Walshaw for e-mailing me this song!

We can dance the seven capers,
All of us can dance them.
Brownies dancing in a ring,
Watch us as we lightly spring,
Cut Capers.

Movement: Brownies skip round in a circle until the word 'spring' on which they stop and jump. In each verse on the words 'Cut Capers' they perform a new action as follows always adding on to the previous actions. (We say 'Cut Capers' each time we do an action.)

1. Kneel on left knee
2. Kneel on right knee
3. Left elbow on ground, chin in hand
4. Right elbow on ground, chin in hand
5. Left hand and forearm on ground
6. Right hand and forearm on ground
7. Head resting on hands on ground.

The verse is repeated with its dance until the last line is sung seven times and all seven capers are performed.
