Johnny Appleseed
(source: "Diamond Jubilee Songbook", Girl Guides Association, 1984.)

There is a very old superstition that goes with this grace... if you sing it at camp, it's guaranteed to rain before the end of camp! I've seen the results of this little 'curse' too many times myself. Just to keep on the safe side, I now only let my kids sing this grace at the last meal of the camp. :-)

Oh the Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and the rain and the apple seed
Oh the Lord is good to me

For every seed I sow
An apple tree will grow
And there will be apples there
Enough for the whole wide world to share
The Lord is good to me
Johnny Appleseed.... Amen!

Thanks very much to Leah Feyh, who sent me another verse to this grace!

I owe the Lord so much
For everything I see
I'm certain if, it weren't for him,
There'd be no apples on this limb
Oh, He's been good to me.
