"Up In The Air" Advancement Ceremony

Thanks once again to Wendy Baker, who shared this wonderful ceremony with the Guiding Mailing List.

As each group of girls is about to move up to the next level in the ceremony, there is a special poem to read to them. Pathfinders have another extra part to their ceremony.

Sparks to Brownies

You've skipped and you've played

And had fun doing crafts

We've learned how to share and be a friend

Played games and had lots of laughs

Now fun and adventure

Brown Owl is going to teach

So go forth in Guiding

Have fun wearing peach

Brownies to Guides

You've opened your window

And widened your view

We've had an adventure

And hope you did too.

Now fun and a challenge

Are waiting for you

So go forth in Guiding

Have fun wearing blue.

Guides to Pathfinders

You've learned co-operation

And leadership too

We've had a challenge

And learned others view

Now fun and opportunities

Are more than a dream

So go forth in Guiding

Have fun wearing green.

Pathfinders to Senior Branches

You've completed all your challenges

And developed self confidence too

Look at all the new talents

See how fast the years have flew

Now adventure and independence

Are waiting for you to try

So go forth in Guiding

And learn how to fly.

Hand out Windsocks and have girls present ribbons to tie on as follows:

Leader:  Here is a windsock with the Guiding trefoil on it.......It symbolizes that you let you have soared high to complete all your challenges as a Pathfinder. We are going to add some ribbons to your windsock. Your fellow Pathfinders have some ribbons to add to your windsock:

Red Ribbon: This red ribbon shows your sense of adventure and independence when you attempted new tasks with confidence.

Green Ribbon: This green ribbon shows that you can manage your time, money, materials and energies wisely.

Blue Ribbon: This blue ribbon shows your friendship and thoughtfulness.  It shows that you are always there for your friends.

Yellow Ribbon: This yellow ribbon is  the bright golden colour of our enrolment pin, a shiny example of our promise.

Pink Ribbon: This pink ribbon shows kindness and warmth and that you work well with others and look out for the well-being of others.

Purple Ribbon: This purple ribbon show your sense of fair play in all you do.

Leader: You will see that these are all the colours of Guiding.   Fly your windsock proudly to show your accomplishments as a Pathfinder as you proceed on to Senior Branches.

Senior Branch to Leaders

You're completed the Guiding Program

And have into a leader grown

Your skills and abilities are many

Just look at how fast the years have flown

Now leadership and fun

Are waiting for you too

So go forth in your life ahead

And never forget what Guiding gave to you
