Reflections

This poem was written by Helen DeBruyn for a Division Awards Ceremony. She also shared it with the Guiding Mailing List.

I look in my mirror and what do I see
Deep down inside, my soul shining at me
I see Spark laughter bubbling, and knowing play never ends
I see sharing and helping and being a friend
I see Brownie pride and lending a hand
I see community, and giving, and respecting the land
I see Girl Guide spirit, and soaring for the stars
Meeting challenges and opportunity, and stretching ever far
I see embracing new ideas, and reaching every dream
Trying things I never thought of and aiming for those things yet unseen
I see Pathfinder guidance, and finding my way down winding roads
I see stretching my boundaries, and setting personal goals
I see Senior Branch searching, and questing for my truth
I see growing independence, while still embracing my youth
I see leadership and caring, arms and hearts opened wide
I see teaching, and loving, and pleasure, and pride
I see Guiding sisterhood, and knowing I have friends
Hand to hand, heart to heart, I see gifts I can lend
I look in the mirror and what do I see
Deep down inside, my soul shining at me
I always see a Girl Guide looking at me
I see beauty and strength, and I like what I see!
