Joy in the Morning

The morning star looks in at me,
A sleepy phoebe chirps at me,
I do not see, I do not hear,
I'm still in dreamland till the clear
Bright sunlight strikes my bed.
And then my eyes are open wide,
I burst with energy inside,
My pleasant dreams have fled.

Who cares for dreams?
This radiant day
With work to do, and time for play
Is mine, is mine!
I'll make it fun
From now until the setting sun,
Its every moment overflowing
With planning,
Doing Learning Knowing!
